Well,
After 11 months, finally got my taxidermy shipment from Africa . Most of it I had dipped and packed for mounting here, but I thought I'd try getting the kudu mounted in Africa. It turned out OK, but if you look closely, there was quite a bit of hair slippage that had to be repaired. That seems to be an issue with African game, and this one had quite a few bare spots to begin with because of ticks. Anyway, not bad, but I'll be interested in comparing this to the North American mounts. The good thing about dip and packing is that I can have the mounts done over a long period ($$$). I noticed the euro mounts I had done over there weren't as good as what we're used to here. They boil the crap out of them until they split, and quite a bit of yellow fat is left. Also, they didn't bleach them. Now all I have to do is get rid of the air hockey table and kids art from around the kudu! |
