Send your team mates a short pm to remind them to sign in. Still time left to get this done. Great logo. I'm sure you can find a little time to get out turkey hunting Hallet16, if you think you will not hunt at all let me know so that I can find another hunter for this team. Good luck guys. beer_cheers.gif

Lots of excitement just couldn't close the deal.
Two hens with two jakes close behind came into the field about 150 yards away.
Then shortly after a Big Bearded Tom with two other jakes in tow enter the field between me and the hens.

I was able to get the attention of the Tom and he started his strut in my direction however the two jakes with the Tom had other ideas and made a run for and headed for the two hens.
The Tom seeing this then turned and ran after them and beat the crap out of one of them. Then the Tom preceded to follow the two Hens losing all interested in my setup.
Worked him hard but just couldn't get him to break away after that.

Enough to drive a person to drink

Maybe tomorrow

Congrats
We are on the score board
That should be approximately

84.25 points for the team
40 for Archey Tom
20.50 for the beard
23.74 for the longest spur

I tip my glass of Wild Turkey to you.
THIS COULD BE INTERESTING IF EVERYONE ON THE TEAM SCORES THIS SEASON.
Could help polish off a full bottle of Wild Turkey before the season is over.

Sounds like a good excuse for me.

Been out 15 days so far with
Two more long days ahead.
Been busted 3 times so far.
Today was interesting
Seen hopefully this falls Buck in velvet.
Three very angry raccoons chasing a fisher.
Then while packing up at 10:30 am (HOT) I noticed a big Tom 500yards away across a ploughed field chasing two hens on the property to the south of the property I am on.
Heard him Gobble at first light close to the property.
Hopefully I can draw him across the road and into the field far enough for a shot away from the direction of the road.
I scouted out a setup spot along the fence line next to the road with the road too my back.

Here are some picture I was sent today.

I would say a very different way of having Coke with your Wild Turkey

Sorry guys tag soup for me first time in 8 years.
Just_Cuz_23.gif

I guess I will have to find another excuse to finish off my bottle of Wild Turkey
( As IF ) rofl.gif

Hunted 15 days.
Was busted 3 times
Poached the first day by a trespasser.
Seen birds every day except one just couldn't get it done.
It went down hill from the first day when a trespasser shot a tom right out of the roost on my property.
From then on the birds were easily to spooked and never returned to the roost which they had been in for the last 3 years.

Man, 15 days in the field chasing turkeys is respectable, no need to appologies!
I fear the first year when i won't be tagged out, and it surely will happened one of these years. You have all my respect Chameleon, turkey hunting is a hard game and you can't always win, otherwise, it would be boring.
The main goal is to learn everyday while having fun, and 15 days of learning is a great bag of tricks for the future!
Congrats buddy for your patience and dedication! Have a sip of bourbon, you deserve it!

Nothing to be sorry for Chameleon. Things just do not always go as planned when you hunt these gobblers. Sometimes it seems easy and sometimes it seems like you can never get it right. I had a lot of success my first 4-5 turkey hunts and one year I went to Southern Ontario and hunted with some members in the Tillbury area all day for 3-4 days on a bunch of properties with birds and every time we Zigged the birds Zagged. Then on the same trip went up to the Peterborough area and stayed with another member who guided me on a few properties that had gobblers present and again, 3-4 days of getting schooled by gobblers. Tag soup.

I still had a great time.

Good luck this fall. With your persistance you will succeed.

user posted image
helped call these two big boys in for the gf's brother and a buddy.
both around 21lbs 10 inch beards and inch and 1 1/8 spurs spurs.

user posted image
My second bird 17.5 lbs 9.5 inch beard and 1 1/8 spurs

user posted image
bought the gf a 20ga and it did a number on this jake who thought he was a tom. strutted in and did the funky chicken at 15 yds for us.

My dad got a second bird in there somewhere but it was just a little jake and we decided it wasnt picture worthy. all in all a great season. hope you guys enjoyed it as well!
